A West Humboldt Park man was found fatally shot in the hallway of a West Garfield Park apartment building Tuesday, authorities said.
Darvelle Brown, 24, of the 4300 block of West Crystal Street, was pronounced dead at 6:32 a.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police were called to a building in the 4000 block of West Wilcox Street just after 6 a.m. to investigate a report of a person shot and found the victim in a hallway, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.
Brown was on parole in a 2010 narcotics case in which he was sentenced to four years in prison. After spending about 100 days in Cook County Jail awaiting trial, he was sent to prison in February 2011 and released on parole in May 2012, according to state records.
