A man who may have suffed a heart attack or other sudden medical emergency died after his car hit a light pole in the Portage Park neighborhood early today, authorities said.
Kadyr Aliyev, 60, of the 6500 block of North Sacramento Avenue, was driving in the 3500 block of North Cicero Avenue about 12:45 a.m., when his vehicle hit a pole, according to police. Aliyev may have suffered some sort of medical emergency before the crash, police said in a media notification.
Following the crash, Aliyev was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was declared dead. An autopsy was scheduled for today.
Aliyev was arrested several times in the last decade, including in 2002, when he lived in Des Plaines and was charged with sexual assault and sexual abuse in an attack on a 20-year-old woman at his home, according to reports at the time.
He later pleaded guilty to criminal sexual abuse with the use of force, was given a term of probation and was ordered to register as a sex offender, according to court records. Aliyev, who listed his home address as being in Russia in his latest registration with Illinois State Police, also pleaded guilty in 2007 in a 2006 felony case of receiving stolen goods, and was given a 3-year prison sentence, according to court records.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
