Man charged after boat accident in Fox Lake

A Crystal Lake man was charged with operating a boat under the influence after the vessel he was driving Saturday collided with another boat and left a woman seriously injured in Fox Lake, Lake County officials said.

Lake County sheriff's marine deputies were called to Myers Bay in Fox Lake at about 9:40 p.m. after the accident occurred between the two boats, Lake County sheriff's officials said in a press release.

A 2000 Glastron Carson powerboat driven collided with a pontoon boat in Myers Bay, police said. The collision resulted in the Glastron powerboat driving over the front bow of the pontoon boat, officials said.

Brian D. Yost, 36, of the 1800 block of Sherman Boulevard, was driving the powerboat with several passengers. The pontoon boat had six passengers.

A 36-year-old woman who was on the pontoon boat was thrown into the water and was pulled from the lake by marine deputies, police said. The woman sustained "severe facial lacerations" as well as a broken leg and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment. No other injuries were reported, police said.

Yost was charged with operating a boat under the influence.

Lake County officials as well as officials from the department of natural resources are investigating.
