A tense situation has ended without incident after a man barricaded himself in a home with two other people early this morning in the South Side's South Shore neighborhood, police said.
About 1:40 a.m., authorities surrounded a home where a man was threatening suicide near the intersection of East 72nd Street and South Coles Avenue, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
Several armored vehicles responded to the scene, and police blocked traffic on nearby streets.
At some point during the roughly four-hour standoff, two police officers assigned to crowd control sustained minor injuries while an arresting an intoxicated person, police said. The officers were taken to a local hospital.
About 5:45 a.m., police took the man who who had been threatening suicide into custody without incident, police said.
