Aren't Cubs fans sick of this? Filing a lawsuit this week, the rooftop owners have made their position clear: They will work to block any renovation to Wrigley Field that compromises their ballpark views. Their revenue-sharing (and view-stealing) contract with the Cubs runs out in 2023. Would the Cubs fan willing to wait that long please step forward?
The solution lies just 13 miles to the west — in Rosemont. Retractable roof. Forty-eight thousand seats. Perfect sightlines. All the signage, video boards and night games the Cubs want with no whiny neighbors or city amusement tax. The opportunity is there. It is up to the Cubs to make that commitment to winning.
