Hinckley woman dies in Kane County accident

A 23-year-old Hinckley woman died in a two-vehicle crash Sunday in Kane County.

According to a press release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office, Kelly Morsch was driving a 2012 Ford Focus eastbound on Route 38 west of Meredith Road between Elburn and Maple Park about 12:30 p.m. when the vehicle crossed over the center line "for an unknown reason" and hit a westbound 2007 BMW SUV.

Lt. Patrick Gengler, the Kane County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer, said today that he does not know how fast the Ford Focus was travelling but that the speed limit in that area is 55 m.p.h.

Morsch was pronounced dead on the scene, the release said.

The driver of the BMW, a 40-year man from Schaumburg, was airlifted from the scene to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, and a passenger in the BMW, the driver's 32-year-old wife, was transported by ambulance to Delnor Hospital in Geneva. Their injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, according to the release.

Both the man and his wife were wearing seat belts, Gengler said, but it was not known if Morsch was.

No tickets have been issued in the accident, according to the release, and Kane County sheriff's detectives and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are continuing to investigate.
