Edward Vrdolyak

Former Chicago Ald. Edward Vrdolyak (10th) talks with reporters as he leaves the the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse on Feb. 26, 2009 in Chicago. Vrdolyak was sentenced to five years of probation for his role in a $1.5 million kickback scheme. U.S. District Judge Milton Shadur also fined Vrdolyak $50,000 and ordered him to do 2,500 hours of community service. Prosecutors had sought restitution of $1.5 million. On exiting the courthouse, Vrdolyak was asked if he had dodged a bullet. "I feel great, thank you," he said. "God is great." However, on January 29, 2010, a federal appeals court overturned the probation sentence on appeal by the prosecution and ordered a resentencing by a different judge
