Vrdolyak was sentenced to five years of probation for his role in a $1.5 million kickback scheme. U.S. District Judge Milton Shadur also fined Vrdolyak $50,000 and ordered him to do 2,500 hours of community service. Prosecutors had sought restitution of $1.5 million. On exiting the courthouse, Vrdolyak was asked if he had dodged a bullet. "I feel great, thank you," he said. "God is great."
