John Pyle, senior vice president, George Williams College
John Pyle has been named senior vice president at George Williams College of Aurora University in Williams Bay, Wis. Pyle joined GWC in early October from Hamline University in St. Paul, where he was vice president for enrollment and marketing. Pyle will lead GWC operations and university-wide initiatives, including blending online-classroom curriculum formats. Pyle comes to GWC at a time of growth at Williams Bay. Over the past decade, academic programs have been expanded to include adult-completion, master's and doctoral degrees. The college has also undergone a physical revamp in recent years, with modern amenities and resources in the rural setting. Pyle replaces Bill Duncan, who retired in July after more than four decades at the college. In his 41 years at GWC, Duncan helped restore the educational mission of the campus and revive the Music by the Lake summer concert series and expand the GWC Conference Center, in Geneva Lake. Pyle formerly was associate vice president of university planning before being promoted at Hamline, and as vice president of the Twin Cities campus of St. Mary's University of Minnesota. He has a bachelor's degree in political science from Kutztown University, master's degree from Immaculata College and PhD in education from St. Mary's University.
