Former Chicago Ald. Allan Streeter (17th) walks through the halls of Chicago's City Hall on Jan. 9, 1996. Streeter, implicated in the Operation Silver Shovel investigation, was convicted in 1996 of taking $37,020 in bribes from undercover FBI agents. Streeter, who secretly taped conversations with colleagues for investigators, was sentenced to a reduced term of eight months in prison in June 1998 as a result of his assistance in the continuing federal investigation of official corruption dubbed Operation Silver Shovel.
