"The Commitments" (1991)

Where do you create the world's greatest soul band? In Dublin, of course. Disappointed with Ireland's music scene, manager Jimmy Rabbitte sets out to create a soul band in the vein of Otis Redding or James Brown. He finds a group of unemployed Dubliners to make it happen, lead by the more-experienced musician Joey "The Lips" Fagan. The movie was cast with musicians rather than actors, including Glen Hansard, then of Irish band The Frames, who went on to star in the Oscar-winning film "Once."
