Students from Worsham College of Mortuary Science, including Joe Betkowski, carry bodies into a mass grave for indigent burials at Homewood Memorial Gardens, Homewood, IL. Coroners around the country say the number of people seeking government-paid burials and cremations is rising. Cook County had 24 percent more indigent burials in 2008 than the previous year. Homewood Memorial Gardens has the county contract for indigent burials.
