Celeb dish: Hot Doug's The Malin Akerman

Not even a visit from Anna Kendrick last year could keep Hot Doug’s owner Doug Sohn from renaming the fire dog sausage he named after the “Up in the Air” actress. The Anna Kendrick is now the Malin Akerman -- inspired by the “Watchmen” and “Rock of Ages” actress.

Those familiar with the enormously popular Hot Doug’s know Sohn renames his sausages every year or so. The fire dog has previously been called the Keira Knightley, Jennifer Garner and Britney Spears because, as it says on the menu, it’s “mighty hot!”

“The name on the fire dog is the most difficult one to finalize,” Sohn said by email. “The theme is, obviously, handsome young women. The difficulty is: I'm old and don't want to appear creepy. We tend towards the bit more ‘under the radar.’ We like to avoid the overexposed. Celebrities of this ilk tend to go off the rails. I'd hate to be stuck with a Lohan for the year.

“So, Malin Akerman it is. And, like Anna Kendrick, it would be nice if she could make an appearance at Hot Doug's and sign her menu board.”

Another sausage that saw a name change was the Brigitte Bardot. This andouille sausage – which was previously called the Salma Hayek, Madonna, Raquel Welch and Ann-Margret -- is now known as the Bo Derek.

“My favorite incident with the new names so far is from the rather young woman who ordered a Bo Derek,” said Sohn, whose book “Hot Doug’s: The Book” hit shelves this year. “When I asked her if she knows who Bo Derek is, her response was “No, who is he?”
