Revisiting the heyday of department stores and five-and-dimes

Bears vs. Cardinals

Chicago Bears coach George Halas on the sidelines during a December 1959 game at Soldier Field against the Bears' crosstown rivals, the Chicago Cardinals. During the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, the Bears and Cardinals would often play two games per year. One game would be at the Bears' home -- Wrigley Field. The other would be at the Cardinals' home -- Comiskey Park. In 1959, however, the Cardinals played some of their home games at Soldier Field -- 12 years before the Bears moved there. It would be the Cardinals' last year in Chicago -- they moved to St. Louis in 1960.
