To partake of Hardee's latest round of breakfast promotions, you'll have to road trip to Wisconsin, say, or the Southeast and promise to exercise a couple hours extra post-consumption of the items: A Double Loaded Omelet Biscuit and Fried Bologna Biscuit.
Hardee's is adding the items regionally at participating eateries, according to Burger Business, which means you'll have to head north, say, for the Double Loaded Omelet Biscuit (crumbled sausage, bacon, ham, cheese and eggs) and work off 800 calories. If you're cruising around the Southeast, you should be able to find the Fried Bologna Biscuit (only 610 calories!).
Confession time: Such talk of fried bologna brings back delicious memories. As a kid, our family often enjoyed sandwiches made from fried prasky, a garlicky salami made by Crawford Sausageon South Pulaski, occasionally with an egg. Mmmmm. didn't worry about calories then.
Editor's note: The Fried Bologna Biscuit triggers memories of long-ago fried-bologna sandwiches: white bread, mayo and don't forget the critical step of scoring the "baloney" before heating it in a cast-iron skillet, more commonly used for frying chicken and pork chops. In summer, there was always the addition of a slice of fresh garden tomato and a bit of iceberg lettuce to keep the white bread was from turning into total mush.
