Dale Levitski's Frog n Snail debuts

Frog n Snail (3124 N. Broadway, 773-661-9166) makes its debut. Dinner service won't launch until Wednesday, April 4.

Dubbed "a midwestern bistro," Frog n Snail is the latest collaboration between chef/partner Dale Levitski and owner Mike Causevic, the duo behind Sprout in Lincoln Park.

Expect Frog n Snail to be a lot simpler and less expensive than the acclaimed Sprout. Most entrees are under $20, and three courses (appetizer, main, dessert) can be had for $32 or so.

The lunch menu includes a "frog n snail" ragout, white anchovy crostini and French onion soup with short ribs, to name a few intriguing starters. Sandwiches include a croque monsieur and something called "beef hodgepodge," and entrees range from classic steak frites ($21) to retro chicken Kiev ($17).

The restaurant also will include an all-day coffee and crepe bar, "all day" being a relative term until dinner service launches on April 4.

Frog n Snail does not accept reservations.
