Nearly five years after the killing of a Rolling Meadows rapper, two of his friends took the stand Tuesday and described the day they saw their friend get shot.
Marquis Lovings, 30, died Aug. 19, 2006, after two armed men came to his apartment in the 4400 block of Euclid Avenue. The murder trial for the man authorities say was one of them — Patrick Taylor, 42, of Chicago — opened Tuesday at the Rolling Meadows Cook County branch courthouse.
Veljko “Charles” Bjelica testified that, on the day of the shooting, he, his girlfriend, Lovings and two other friends were at Lovings’ Gold Coast apartment before eventually driving to a second apartment Lovings rented in Rolling Meadows.
