The youngest daughter of former Mayor Richard Daley and his wife Maggie was married tonight in a ceremony at a North Michigan Avenue restaurant after the marriage was moved up because of Maggie Daley’s health.
Elizabeth "Lally" Daley, who turned 28 today, married Sam Hotchkiss in Spiaggia, 980 N. Michigan Ave. The reception also was being held at the restaurant, which had been previously scheduled to host the couple's engagement party today.
The marriage had originally been planned for New Year's Eve.
Maggie, 68, was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in 2002. She had a titanium rod in her leg replaced in April, and she was hospitalized twice in the weeks following the procedure for treatment of flu-like symptoms that doctors said were not related to the cancer.
Lally Daley decided to reschedule the wedding so "her mom can participate in the festivities," Jacquelyn Heard, who served as the mayor’s spokeswoman during much of his time in office, told the Tribune this week.
Lally wore her mother's wedding dress and was walked down the aisle by both of her parents. The wedding colors were plum and silver.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
