Elderly woman injured when car slams into South Side store

An elderly woman and another person were injured this morning when a truck rear-ended her Hyundai   and she crashed into a building on the South Side, officials said.

The accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. on the 700 block of West 79th Street, according to fire media information and police.

According to preliminary reports, the woman was driving when a truck rear-ended her small Hyundai and she crashed into a store located at 746 W. 79th St., officials said.

The woman and the driver of the truck were both taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, officials said.

No age was available for the woman, but both police and fire officials described here as elderly.

There was no immediate information available from police about the cause of the crash.
