Update: St. Charles police cancelled the missing person alert for Sarah Mignin this evening, after she was found safe in Michigan, police said.
Police had been looking for the 89-year-old woman after she failed to show up at her daughter’s home for a visit Sunday morning.
A St. Charles woman called police about 9:15 a.m. Sunday, reporting her mother – Mignin – was more than an hour late for a visit, police said Monday.
She apparently had driven to a Panda Express in East Lansing, Mich., officials said, and began asking for directions back to Illinois. Other customers thought she seemed confused, according to police, and asked for names and phone numbers of family members and called them. Arrangements were then made to take Mignin back to her St. Charles home, police said.
Mignin’s family said she has no health concerns, but lately has some “forgetfulness,” police said.
Monday evening, she was on her way to be reunited with her family, police said.
