A driver was arrested following a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 22-year-old man early Saturday in a west suburban Oak Park.
WGN-TV reports police arrested the driver, Michael D. Campbell of Bellwood, following the hit-and-run that occurred about 3 a.m. near Harlem Avenue and Jackson Street. Campbell has been charged with reckless homicide, according to Oak Park police.
Police said the victim was crossing at Harlem Avenue with two friends when a car hit him and sped off, WGN-TV reports.
Officers pulled the car over minutes later and arrested the driver, who they said may have been under the influence of alcohol, WGN-TV reports.
The dead man was identified as Christopher Swordy of the 800 block of South Clinton Street in Oak Park, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
