Dr. Yusuke Nakamura, faculty, U. of C. Department of Medicine

Dr. Yusuke Nakamura joins the faculty of the University of Chicago School of Medicine in April.

Nakamura comes to the U. of C. from  Japanese government's Office of Medical Innovation , where he was secretary general, and  Tokyo University's Human Genome Center, where he was a professor of molecular medicine at Tokyo University's Human Genome Center. 

At U. of C., Nakamura, 59, will  continue his innovative program in anticancer drug discovery and development, as well as his internationally recognized research in genomics and pharmacogenomics. 

Nakamura began his career in 1977 as an abdominal surgeon.
