Diane Lane to star in Goodman's 'Sweet Bird of Youth'

Director David Cromer's production of Tennessee Williams' "Sweet Bird of Youth" at the Goodman Theatre next season has its star: Diane Lane.

She’ll play opposite Finn Wittrock as the drifter Chance Wayne, recently on Broadway in ”Death of a Salesman.”

A former child actor with a distinguished movie career, Lane is known for her movie work in such films as “The Outsiders,” “Rumble Fish,” “Chaplin” and “Unfaithful,” and will play Martha Kent in the upcoming Superman movie.  She is married to the actor Josh Brolin.

Cromer had been initially slated to direct “Sweet Bird of Youth” on Broadway with Nicole Kidman, but that production never happened. This will be Cromer's Goodman debut.
