David L. Parkyn, director, National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities

David L. Parkyn, president of North Park University, has been elected to a three-year term on the board  of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, Washington. 

Parkyn, who remains North Park president, will represent the the association's region that includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin on policy issues with the federal government, such as those affecting student aid, taxation, and government regulation. 

Parkyn has extensive experience in higher education ranging from professor to management at colleges including Elizabethtown and Messiah. 

He has a Ph.D. from Boston College, master of divinity from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and B.A. from Messiah College.
The association comprises private, nonprofit colleges and universities and private professional schools.
