Jordan wore these shoes -- the Air Jordan IV "Taking Flight" -- in 1989, the season before the start of the Bulls' championship run. The team finished that regular season with a 55-27 record, led by Jordan's league-leading 33.6 points per game. In the playoffs, the Bulls beat Cleveland (with "The Shot"), then Philadelphia before losing Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals to their nemesis, the Detroit Pistons. The Chicago History Museums John Russick said the shoes are not currently on public view because some of the materials -- glue in particular -- do not hold up well when on display.
