The 1948 Chicago Cardinals

This photo, courtesy of longtime Chicago Cardinals equipment manager Phil Bouzeos,  is a picture of the 1948 Chicago Cardinals, who won their second straight Western Division title and once again moved on to the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORSPT000007" title="NFL" href="/topic/sports/football/nfl-ORSPT000007.topic">NFL</a> championship game. Again, they played the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORSPT000211" title="Philadelphia Eagles" href="/topic/sports/football/philadelphia-eagles-ORSPT000211.topic">Philadelphia Eagles</a>. But after winning the NFL Championship against the Eagles in 1947, the Cards lost to that same team in 1948. It would be the last time until 2009 that a Cardinals team advanced to the NFL title game.

Again, they played the Philadelphia Eagles. But after winning the NFL Championship against the Eagles in 1947, the Cards lost to that same team in 1948. It would be the last time until 2009 that a Cardinals team advanced to the NFL title game.
