Remembering all who have fallen

Chicago Police Department Sergeant Donald Bertini's reflection is in the police star that belonged to Patrolman Andrew Hauswirth, who was killed in 1894 after being shot on the city's North Side. Seven Chicago Police Stars were retired by Police Supt. Philip J. Cline during a ceremony at the Chicago Police Headquarters in May 2005. Badges of three slain officers from the 1800's and four who suffered accidental death while performing duties were added to the Honored Star Case, located in the lobby of the headquarters building.
