Police issued a community alert this afternoon warning of a pair of robbers who have targeted cell phone stores on the Near West Side.
The robbers entered the stores brandishing a handgun before demanding money, police said.
One of the robberies happened about 4:18 p.m. March 12 on the 1700 block of South Ashland Avenue in the Illinois Medical District neighborhood. Another happened about 12:45 p.m. March 26 on the 2300 block of West Chicago Avenue in the West Town neighborhood, police said.
The robbers were described as being males between the ages of 24 and 39. They weigh between 140 and 215 pounds and are between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet 3 inches tall, police said.
