Cops warn of counterfeit $100 bills in Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park Chicago

Chicago police are warning businesses in Lincoln Park about a man who has been circulating counterfeit $100 bills.

On at least two occasions last month, a man has entered stores and used a fake $100 bill to purchase single items of clothing, police said.

The man then makes off with the change, police said.

The incidents happened at a store in the 1500 block of North Halsted Street at about 2:25 p.m. on Jan. 22, and the second incident happened in the 500 block of West North Avenue at 12:28 p.m. on Jan. 24, police said.

The man is described as black, between 20 and 27, 5-foot-9 to 6-foot tall and between 150 and 175 pounds.

Anyone with any information should call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
