Cops search for armed robber who held up Crystal Lake pharmacy

Police are looking for an armed robber who held up a pharmacy for the pain reliever Oxycontin late Sunday night in northwest suburban Crystal Lake.

About 10:38 p.m. Sunday, a man entered a CVS Pharmacy located at 1305 Randall Road and gave the pharmacist a note demanding the narcotic pain reliever Oxycontin. The man brandished a gun during the robbery, according to a press release from the Crystal Lake Police Department.

The man had a foreign accent, possibly European, police said.

After taking the Oxycontin, the man fled in a silver or gray 2-door Toyota or Mazda with a rear deck spoiler. The car was last seen southbound on Randall Road, police said.

The robber was described as a white man, in his late 20s, about 6 feet tall with a stocky build. He has red facial hair and a goatee, police said.

The man was last seen wearing a baseball cap, dark-colored sunglasses, a dark hooded sweatshirt, baggy jeans and a black T-shirt, police said.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact Crystal Lake police at (815) 356-3620. Tips can also be texted anonymously to TIP411 with the keyword TIPCLPD within the text.
