Cops: Cab driver without license smashes bus shelter, hits light pole

A Chicago cabbie was driving without a license this morning when he crashed his taxi early this morning, police said.

Anthony Munoz, 30, of the 4000 W. Nelson Street in Chicago, was charged with driving without a license and damage to city property following the crash in the 1800 block of West Fullerton Avenue about 1:35 a.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

No one else was in the cab Munoz was driving when he lost control of the 2003 Ford Crown Victoria as he drove west on Fullerton, Mirabelli said.

The car struck a CTA bus shelter, continued on and hit a wrought-iron fence, then struck a city light pole, Mirabelli said.

Munoz was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment, but his condition was not available this morning. He was scheduled to appear in Cook County Traffic Court on March 28, Mirabelli said.
