A convicted sex offender faces new charges that he sexually assaulted an Aurora woman in a home where he was staying, police say.
Gary R. Kluber was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts each of criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse. Bail was set at $250,000 for Kluber this morning, with his next appearance scheduled for June 13 in Courtroom 319 in front of Judge Tim Sheldon, said police spokesman Paul McCurtain.
On June 3, a woman reported to St. Charles police that Kluber assaulted her the day before in the basement of the home where he was staying, police said.
Kluber was convicted in 1987 and 1998 of sexual abuse charges, and was required to register as a sex offender, according to police. That mandated registration period has since lapsed, police said.
Kluber was arrested about two years ago in Aurora and charged with being present in a school zone as a convicted sex offender, according to Kane County court records. He was sentenced to jail time and probation in that case, records show.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
