March 30, 2012
The first-ever Chicago Improv Fest Productions gala is a celebration of improv comedy, as well as a benefit. Taking part in the festivities, which include an improv jam, will be Keegan-Michael Key, left in photo, and Jordan Peele, right, who are in the first season of their Comedy Central show "Key & Peele." Joining Key and Peele in the jam will be Ike Barinholtz ("MADtv") and Jon Barinholtz ("Parks and Recreation," "Perfect Couples"), with Mark Sutton as the emcee.
Why go: It won't cost you a chunk of change or tuxedo rental for this fun gala.
Reconsider: Joan Rivers is in town, Paula Poundstone, Mike Epps ... there's only so much the gut can take.
Details: 7 p.m. Saturday at Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave.; $35-$75; 2012cifgala.eventbrite.com
