Shootings across the city left two men dead and two others wounded overnight, according to authorities.
A 25-year-old man was killed in the South Shore neighborhood about 10:50 p.m. Two people approached him while he sat in a white car in the 6800 block of South Paxton Avenue and opened fire.
The man, identified as Jeremy Morris, died at the scene. He lived in the 5000 block of South Champlain Avenue in the Bronzeville neighborhood, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The shooters fled in a dark car, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
Fernando Sanchez, 25, was shot about 1:50 a.m. in the 3700 block of West LeMoyne Street in the Humboldt Park neighborhood and he died less than two hours later at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
A young man with a ponytail walked up to Sanchez while he was drinking a beer in front of his apartment building and shot at him a number of times, hitting him once in the torso.
Another man was shot in the Old Town neighborhood before midnight. The man, in his 20s, was shot in the foot and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The man wouldn't cooperate with investigators, Alfaro said. He was shot near Hudson and Evergreen avenues.
About 8:35 p.m. a man was shot in the 7600 block of North Paulina Street in the Rogers Park neighborhood. His age wasn't available but he was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston with wounds to his legs.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
