The NFL Draft might be moving in 2015, and Chicago is one of three cities being given consideration as a potential host.
According to a report from the league’s website, next year’s draft will not take place at Radio City Music Hall, its traditional home. Instead, the NFL is doing reconnaissance on potential venues for the draft in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. An NFL spokesman clarified that the league could consider venues in cities other than those three, but those are the locations on which the league is currently focused.
Mayor Rahm Emmanuel has expressed his enthusiastic interest in bringing the draft to Chicago. The league is looking for a site to not only host the draft itself but for an adjacent fan festival as well.
The dates for next year’s draft have not been finalized, but the league prefers the event to take place either be April 22-25 or April 29-May 2. That also means the league continues to consider turning the seven-round draft into a four-night affair.
The dates and destination for next year’s draft are expected to be locked in by the end of the summer.
