A Chicago man was ordered held in lieu of $1 million bail Saturday after he allegedly shot at two men five times Wednesday on the Southwest Side, striking one in the hip, prosecutors said.
Jorge Perez, 19, of the 5000 block of South Mozart Street, and a co-defendant who was not in court Saturday approached two other men Wednesday in the 3100 block of West 53rd Street in the Gage Park neighborhood and had a conversation about gang membership, said Cook County Asst. State's Atty. Christina Brewer.
Soon after the conversation, Perez pulled out a gun and fired at the two men five times, Brewer said. One of the men was hit in the hip but survived.
A victim identified Perez in a lineup and he was arrested Thursday at his home, Brewer said.
Perez's next court date is Sept 16.
