Brunch time

"Brunch happens to be my favorite meal in the world," says Dan Smith, one-half of the duo known as The Hearty Boys. "It was the perfect time to jump back in." He's not alone. All over town, new restaurants are adding brunch to drum up a little more business—or, as in Smith's case, because they just like brunch. Even established restaurants are brunching for the first time. "You wouldn't necessarily think about going to SushiSamba for brunch," says Michael Cressotti, the chain's corporate chef. "So we thought if we offered the cheapest possible brunch, made it a great value, it might catch on. It's working very well for us." —Phil Vettel
