Body pulled from Palos Heights pond identified

A body pulled out of a retention pond in Palos Heights Tuesday morning lived on the same block as the pond, officials said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the deceased as Patrick Altman, 36, of the 6100 block of Princeton, officials said.

There does not appear to be any foul play, said Palos Heights Police Sgt. Tim Holder.

A landscaping crew working on the block discovered the man's body, said Holder.

“They saw the top of his head above the water. The rest of the body was submerged,” he said.

Holder said police on Monday received a missing person’s report for a man who lives in the area.

Police are waiting for a toxicology report to determine the cause of death, he said, but added:

“There were no signs of foul play on the body or at the scene. There were no signs of trauma or wounds. There is nothing suspicious about it."
