Addie Wyatt

Rev. Addie Wyatt listens during the Regional Transit Authority board meeting in Chicago in 2002. Wyatt was the only African-American woman on the board. She’s an iconic figure who fought not just for civil rights, but for women’s rights when it wasn’t popular in the black community. Few know that she was honored a few years ago and inducted into the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame. She lived in Chicago for 79 years.
