Betty Loren-Maltese

Former Cicero Town President Betty Loren-Maltese arrives at the Dirksen Federal Building for her sentencing on January 9, 2003. Maltese, then 52, was convicted of one count each of racketeering, conspiracy and mail fraud; and four counts of wire fraud in an insurance scheme that looted Cicero of over $12 million. Five others were also convicted in the scheme, including Cicero mob boss Michael Spano, Sr. Maltese was sentenced to eight years in prison.
