Around-the-world service

A brass band and several state and city dignitaries greeted a Pan American World Airways flight that was the first around-the-world flight to land in Chicago on June 30, 1947. Newspaper editors and publishers, including Tribune managing editor J. Loy Malloney, were on-board the flight, which ushered in global service in Chicago.
