At least seven people were wounded overnight in separate shootings on the city's South and Northwest and West sides, officials said.
The first shooting happened about 10:06 p.m. on the 800 block of East 42nd Street in the Bronzeville neighborhood, said Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines. According to preliminary reports, a male was found shot in the back. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition has stabilized, Gaines said.
About 10 minutes later, a man was shot in his back in the city's Avondale neighborhood, Gaines said. That shooting happened near the intersection of Belmont and Lawndale avenues. Preliminary reports stated the man, described as being in his 30s, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital.
About 15 minutes later, another person was shot in the city's Gage Park neighborhood. That shooting occurred on the 5500 block of South Sacramento Avenue. According to preliminary reports, a male suffered a gunshot wound to his arm and was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
Shortly before 11 p.m., a male was wounded in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood, Gaines said. That shooting happened on the 7000 block of South East End Avenue. The victim was taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center.
About 11:47 p.m., another male was shot on the Northwest Side in the city's Belmont Cragin neighborhood. That shooting occurred on the 5200 block of West Deming Place. The victim was shot in his hip, Gaines said.
Shortly after 1 a.m., a male was shot in the Lawndale neighborhood. That shooting happened on the 2200 block of South Kildare Avenue, said Gaines. The victim was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
About 2:30 a.m., a 49-year-old man was shot in the stomach on the 300 block of East 61st Street in the city's Washington Park neighborhood. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, but there was no information available about his condition.
As of 2:49 a.m., no one was in custody for any of the shootings. Police were investigating.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
