All Saints Lutheran Church book club

We established the book club in February 2004 at our church in Orland Park.

We embrace all readers whether they are members of the congregation or not.

The author we'd most like to meet is Jenna Blum ("Those Who Save Us"). Jenna called in to our January 2011 meeting, and we found her to be articulate and very warm.

In March, we won a contest run by Kensington Publishing in which we received a Skype chat with four authors who have written books involving World War II: Blum, Kristina McMorris ("Bridge of Scarlet Leaves"), Sarah McCoy ("The Baker's Daughter") and Ruta Sepetys ("Between Shades of Gray").

Books we've loved: "Those Who Save Us," "One Thousand White Women" by Jim Fergus, "One Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini, and "Shanghai Girls" and "Dreams of Joy" by Lisa See.

Up next: "Room" by Emma Donoghue.

Editor's note: Tell us about your book club at Entries will be edited and must include a high-resolution JPEG and a phone number.
