Alais L.M. Griffin, shareholder, Greenberg Traurig
Alais L.M. Griffin has the Chicago office of Greenberg Traurig as a shareholder in the Litigation, Transportation and Governmental Affairs Practices. Griffin will focus on litigation, with an emphasis on transportation and regulatory matters, having represented clients in commercial litigation, securities fraud, product liability, white-collar criminal and property tax appeal matters. She also brings extensive experience in transportation-related litigation, regulations and laws, as well as in regulatory development and other government processes. Previously, Griffin has been a political appointee in the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT): first as counselor to the General Counsel, where she worked closely with the Office of the Secretary and other senior political appointees on the Department's regulatory, policy and litigation matters; then as chief counsel for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which oversees commercial motor vehicles; finally, as chief legal officer, managing litigation and legal and strategic review of policies, programs and regulations. Griffin also worked regularly on legislative and regulatory matters with the White House, other Executive Branch agencies and Congress. Griffin also is a former law clerk to the Honorable Harry D. Leinenweber, United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She has a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and a B.A. from Harvard University.
