Scrat

One of the biggest hits of the CGI era, 2002’s "Ice Age" has a cast of lumbering prehistoric creatures voiced by big-time comedians - yet its breakout character is a bizarre little squirrel who never speaks. The ratlike Scrat does vocalize, thanks to Oscar-winning animator (and "Ice Age" co-director) Chris Wedge: Scrat grunts, Scrat squeaks, Scrat screams - all in frantic efforts to bury his precious acorn in the permafrost, a gag that somehow never gets old. Bonus points: The sequel might not have scored with critics, but everybody still loves Scrat - so much so that he starred in two hilarious spin-off shorts, both nominated for Oscars.
