Ultimate Nick Fury

Marvel Comics created The Ultimates in 2002, a modernized version of the classic group The Avengers. One of those characters is Nick Fury. While the original Nick Fury is a caucasian <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="EVHST00000110" title="World War II (1939-1945)" href="/topic/unrest-conflicts-war/wars-interventions/world-war-ii-%281939-1945%29-EVHST00000110.topic">WWII</a> veteran, Ultimate Nick Fury is an African-American and "the king of cool." The new Nick Fury was modeled after <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB002552" title="Samuel L. Jackson" href="/topic/entertainment/movies/samuel-l.-jackson-PECLB002552.topic">Samuel L. Jackson</a>, who made an appearance in the 2008 film "Iron Man."
