Todd Lamantia, left, smiles as he watches Walter Wetzel, 17, hug Lamantia's daughter Sarah, 1, at Lamantia's home in Lake in the Hills. Wetzel, who has been in remission from Leukemia for four years, wanted Lamantia and his wife Mary to know her son Ryan inspired him to survive. Ryan, who died from brain cancer at the age of 6 in 2005, met Wetzel while the two were undergoing treatment. "I always tried to remember that Ryan had it worse than I did," said Wetzel. "He was basically my incentive to survive."
