Five people were hurt in an early-morning traffic crash near Grant Park in downtown Chicago, fire officials said.
The crash, involving a Toyota Camry and a Hyundai Elantra, happened just after 2 a.m. near the intersection of South Columbus Drive and East Roosevelt Road. One of the vehicles involved in the crash struck a light pole, according to the Chicago Police Department Office of News Affairs.
Paramedics took a total of five people to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County -- two 17-year-old boys, an 18-year-old man, a 17-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman, said police and Chicago Fire Department officials. Four were in serious-to-critical condition, and one was in fair-to serious condition, but as of 11 a.m. Saturday, the conditions of all five had stabilized.
The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
