Four men are behind bars after stealing nearly $2,300 in merchandise from a Walgreens in the Andersonville neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Craig Sims, 23, of the 5900 block of South Morgan Street; Nassri Nassar, 43, of the 10700 block of Plahm Court in Worth; David Wesley, 18, of the 7300 block of South Damen Avenue; and Jeremiah Hill, 22, of the 5600 block of South Bishop Street, were each charged with felony retail theft, police said.
The four were booked into Cook County Jail Wednesday after a judge ordered Sims held on $25,000 bond, Nassar on $90,000 bond, Wesley on $20,000 bond and Hill on $50,000 bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s office.
Nassar was waiting behind the wheel of a 2004 beige, 4-door BMW while Sims, Wesley, and Hill entered the Walgreens, 5440 N. Clark St. at about 3:20 p.m., police said.
According to a police report, the three concealed merchandise including cosmetics, prepaid phone cards, and Zyrtec allergy medication and tried to walk out without paying, but fled the establishment when confronted by store workers, according to a police report.
They got into the awaiting BMW but the staffers called 911 and police were able to spot the car and pull it over less than ten minutes later on the 4900 Block of North Ashland Ave., police said.
The four were arrested without incident and the merchandise was recovered. No one was hurt.
