Jazz guitarist Norman Brown has wowed audiences with his smooth-jazz interpretations of R&B and soul from his 2002 Grammy-winning debut, "Just Chillin'," to his 2010 "Sending My Love." The single "Celebrate Me Home" (a Kenny Loggins remake) was close to Brown's heart, dedicated to the troops and one in particular: his daughter.
Why go: Yes, jazz crooner Gerald Albright -- whom Brown collaborates with often, most recently on their first album together, "24/7" -- would be a great addition to the show, but he's not on the lineup. However, talented jazz saxophonist Eric Darius will perform.
Reconsider: You'll get your smooth jazz from Kenny G on Thursday.
