Jazz it up

We're willing to bet that a lot of people don't know that Chicago's venerable Jazz Showcase has a Sunday matinee performance. Budding jazz heads younger than 21 are welcome, and children younger than 12 get in free. And you family fun seekers are in luck because this weekend, reedist Donald Harrison is in town, with his latest effort, "Quantum Leap." Some are labeling him the "king of new swing." But Harrison has staked out a singular space with his lustrous, expansive compositions that bring to mind Duke Ellington, spiked with a modern sensibility. In a word, awesome.
